Application Engineer in electrochemistry and mass spectrometry

Are you passionate about science, instrumentation, and innovation? Spectro Inlets is looking for a technically skilled and commercially driven Application Engineer to support our customers, develop new applications, and promote our cutting-edge EC-MS instruments on the global stage.

This role bridges technology and communication, combining application development, customer interaction, and international outreach with hands-on lab work and technical writing. You will be joining a highly skilled team dedicated to transforming how electrochemical research is done and advancing a cleaner and more sustainable future.

Your responsibilities

As an EC-MS application engineer, you will:

  • Design and conduct experiments to expand the technical capabilities of our EC-MS instruments
  • Develop new applications, through design of electrochemical cells, fluid handling systems, and analysis methods
  • Produce high-quality documentation such as application notes, user manuals, and technical guides
  • Support our sales and marketing efforts with technical presentations and customer visits (including international travel)
  • Assist with quality control through benchmark testing of system performance
  • Assist with complex customer support cases, combining scientific and technical insight

Your profile

Required qualifications:

  • PhD (or equivalent experience) in chemistry, physics, or a related technical discipline
  • Strong experience with laboratory work and instrumentation as well as designing and conducting experiments
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific and technical topics clearly and persuasively, both written and verbally
  • Comfortable engaging with diverse stakeholders, including customers and sales teams
  • A team player who enjoys collaborating across disciplines
  • Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken)

Nice to have:

  • Electrochemical processes and measurement techniques
  • Battery testing techniques and knowledge of various battery chemistries
  • Mass spectrometry, gas handling, vacuum physics and instrumentation
  • Programming skills, ideally in Python
