We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Scientist or Scientist for the Screening Biology department, to play a key role in the development, automation, and execution of advanced high-throughput screening strategies at Orbis Medicines.

Orbis Medicines is a pioneering Biotech company powered by our automated nGen chemistry platform and data-driven approach. We develop oral alternatives to injectable biologics and design drugs for hard-to-drug targets primarily in inflammation and immune-driven diseases. Orbis’ nGen platform designs macrocycles with oral bioavailability by combining AI technologies with automated synthesis and high-throughput screening of real compounds.

About the role

In this role, you will develop robust and scalable biological assays by combining scientific knowledge with hands-on laboratory work. This position offers the opportunity to learn about screening approaches at the core of Orbis’ discovery engine in close collaboration with the Platform Chemistry and AI & Computational Drug Design

departments.

As part of the Screening Biology team, you will

  • Design, develop, and optimize biochemical (TR-FRET) and cellular assays for screening and hit validation
  • Ensure assay robustness, reproducibility, and high data quality and suitable for high-throughput screening
  • Work with automation platforms and liquid handling systems (e.g., Echo)
  • Run screening campaigns and communicate results and scientific insights to project team
  • Contribute to screening strategy and assay platform development
  • Collaborate closely with Chemistry, Computational, and Data Science teams to align screening strategies with compound libraries

    Your skills and expertise

You bring an experimental background within drug discovery and screening biology, combined with hands-on experience in assay development and high-throughput workflows.

    Most likely, you have:

    • A PhD with ~2 years of industry experience, or a Master’s degree with 3–5 years of relevant pharma/biotech experience
    • Experience with cell-based assays, including transcriptional reporter assays and/or 2nd messenger assays
    • Experience with biochemical assay development, preferably HTRF
    • Hands-on experience with high-throughput screening (HTS)
    • Experience working with automation and liquid handling systems (e.g., Echo)

You enjoy working hands-on in the laboratory and are able to combine scientific depth with practical execution. You thrive in an innovative, fast-paced environment and are motivated by generating high-quality data and contributing directly to drug discovery.
