Are you a senior laboratory technician/research associate with a flair for library synthesis and lab automation?

Orbis Medicines is a pioneering Biotech company powered by our automated nGen chemistry platform and data-driven approach. We develop oral alternatives to injectable biologics and design drugs for hard-to-drug targets primarily in inflammation and immune-driven diseases. Orbis’ nGen platform designs macrocycles with oral bioavailability by combining AI technologies with automated synthesis and high-throughput screening of real compounds.

We are looking for a highly motivated hands-on experienced Senior Platform Technician/Research Associate to join our Platform Chemistry team in Copenhagen.

About the role

In this hands-on, lab-based role, you will work at the early stages of drug discovery and development using the Orbis macrocycle synthesis platform. Reporting to the VP of Platform Chemistry, you will work closely with a team of very skilled Technicians and Scientists and play a key role in the planning and execution of multi-step synthesis, purification, and analytical characterization of complex peptides.

This position offers excellent opportunities for professional development, as you will gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art laboratory techniques within automated peptide synthesis, while contributing to the generation of large macrocyclic libraries. Your work will directly support Orbis’ drug discovery programmes and contribute to the ambition of creating orally available macrocycle therapeutics.

As part of the Platform Chemistry team, you will

  • Synthesize macrocyclic libraries using advanced laboratory automation tools
  • Set up, operate, and maintain automated laboratory instruments, including peptide synthesizers, liquid handling systems, and analytical equipment (e.g. LC-MS)
  • Analyze, interpret, and document experimental results with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and manage chemical inventory

Your skills and expertise

  • Completed laboratory technician training, or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (BSc, BEng, MSc, MSc Eng.) in chemistry or a related field
  • Solid laboratory skills, including experience with common purification techniques
  • Practical experience with laboratory instruments such as synthesizers, liquid handling systems, and analytical equipment (e.g. LC-MS)
  • Preferably hands-on experience with organic synthesis and/or peptide chemistry
  • Comfortable working with advanced laboratory instrumentation and eager to learn new software and technologies
  • A results-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to high-quality experimental work
  • Motivation to work in an active, hands-on laboratory role
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with stakeholders in a multidisciplinary team
