Proteomics is advancing with faster, more reliable, and user-friendly technologies. As a result, efficient, automated, and standardized sample preparation workflows are essential for scaling up experiments. Recognising these challenges, Evosep is committed to innovating new products specifically designed to overcome barriers in sample preparation and support the growth of proteomics.

We are seeking a highly experienced and self-motivated Director of Sample Preparation R&D to lead research and development projects focused on sample preparation and workflow solutions. In this role, you will work closely with other R&D functions and departments to coordinate projects and deliver innovative solutions that align with Evosep’s mission.

The ideal candidate has relevant industrial experience with a proven track record in proteomics sample preparation and extensive experience in project planning and execution. You should also have a strong desire to grow and develop a team of scientists, fostering collaboration and excellence. This position reports directly to our VP Product and R&D.

What We Do

Evosep aims to improve quality of life and patient care by radically innovating protein based clinical diagnostics. Making sample preparation and separation before MS analysis 10 times faster and 100 times more robust will enable truly large cohort studies for biomarker validation and provide the foundation for precision medicine.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor: lead, mentor and develop a high-performing R&D team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive product development: lead all aspects of new product development, ensuring alignment with market needs, customer requirements, and strategic business objectives.
  • Design Transfer and Manufacturing: Ensure seamless transition from R&D to production and vertical markets, including overseeing validation, documentation, and technical specifications for manufacturing.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: work closely with R&D teams in separation and product management to achieve common goals.
  • Execution: Project planning and continuous alignment and coordination of tasks to ensure timely execution.
  • Strategic Planning: contribute to the long-term R&D strategy for sample preparation, identifying emerging technologies and market opportunities.
  • IP strategy for sample prep business: oversee patent disclosures, filings, and documentation related to new innovations in collaboration with general counsel.
  • Market needs: work closely with vertical and product management teams to understand customer needs and ensure that innovations meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Competitive analysis: stay updated on industry trends and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and threats.

Qualifications

To shine in this role, you ideally recognize yourself in the following:

  • An M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Analytical Sciences, Biochemistry or related fields with a minimum of 8 years' experience in the proteomics/mass spectrometry or tech industry, with at least 5 years of experience in a leadership role or managing a team.
  • Strong understanding of sample preparation and automation for LC-MS based proteomics.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
  • The ability to critically evaluate data and consider experimental design.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This includes both writing and presentation skills, as well as being great at collaborating with others.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to continuously meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders and partners.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
