The power grid is changing faster than the software running it. Renewables are flooding supply, prices swing wildly, and millions of EV batteries sit idle on driveways every night, completely disconnected from the markets that need them most. enkel is the platform that closes that gap. We integrate directly with energy markets and connect distributed EV assets to the grid in real time. For our customers, that means earnings from their car. For grid operators, it means flexibility at scale, without building a single new power plant. We are building the connection between consumers and the grid: a layer that every stakeholder in the energy transition needs.
We are looking for a (Senior) Software Engineer to own the integration layer that connects our platform to the outside world. These are the systems everything else depends on, and the ones where getting it wrong costs a customer money or trust. You will own this code end-to-end: building it, hardening it, and keeping it reliable.
What You Bring:
- You have built integration-heavy systems before and taken them from unclear requirements to working production
- You think in terms of retries, idempotency, partial failure, rate limits, and bad or stale data from systems you do not control, because you know that is where this work actually lives
- You care about correctness where it matters – the things that, if they go wrong, cost a customer money or trust – and you have judgment about where it does not
What You Will Do:
- Build robust integrations against external APIs and systems, handling the auth, quirks, and failure modes each one brings
- Take work from rough requirements to production yourself: design, build, test, and release, end-to-end
- Use AI heavily across implementation, testing, and iteration to move faster than a team your size should be able to
- Build the tooling, simulations, and test harnesses that let you trust messy real-world flows, and design for failure rather than assuming the happy path
- Treat what you build as something you keep sharpening, not a project you finish
What We Offer:
- A mission worth showing up for, and a company with the traction to prove it is working
- Real ownership of systems the whole platform depends on, with the latitude to build them well
- A small, high-calibre team that values clear thinking, fast execution, and judgment over process
- Fast pace and decision-making speed, without sacrificing engineering rigour
- Competitive compensation
We know great candidates come from many different paths and encourage applications from all backgrounds.
