In Purification, our new Department Manager will lead a team of 16–18 technicians, of which about two-thirds work in day and afternoon shifts. Welcome to the Purification Pilot Plant

We offer a position in the Novonesis Purification Pilot Plant in Denmark, where the newest biotechnological processes for enzymes, proteins, and other biomolecules are developed as part of NPD and OPT projects. The pilot plant is also where new purification technologies and process equipment are installed and tested before being implemented in global production. We are one of the world’s largest pilot plants within biotechnology and operate as a production unit running 24/7 for 47 weeks per year. We operate unmanned during the night, with our process control system supervising and controlling operations.

In This Role, You Will Make An Impact By

  • Leading, supporting, and coaching employees as individuals and as a team, and developing their competencies
  • Ensuring the operational capabilities needed for high efficiency and quality
  • Being responsible for safety and the working environment
  • Overseeing operations, including maintenance and continuous improvements
  • Ensuring proper staffing of the purification schedule and planning in collaboration with other leaders
  • Ensuring compliance with requirements applicable to the pilot plant (GMO, environmental regulations, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, food-grade GMP)
  • Contributing to implementation of new equipment
  • Being responsible for the operations and maintenance budget
  • Ensuring strong collaboration within the pilot plant and with colleagues outside the pilot plant

To Succeed You Must

  • Education as a chemical engineer or another relevant background
  • Experience in people leadership — or a strong interest in it
  • A strong safety mindset and interest in working with occupational health and safety
  • Preferably experience with production, understanding Novonesis’ production processes and equipment, and understanding our process and product development
  • Ability to work independently, strong collaboration skills, project management experience, and the ability to handle many different tasks at the same time
