Join us as Business Development Manager
In This Role You’ll Make An Impact By
- E2E Innovation Opportunity Scouting & Technical-Market Assessment
- Identify and evaluate new opportunity spaces for our biosolutions, including biochemicals, biomaterials, circularity solutions, carbon reduction technologies, and industrial biosolutions.
- Conduct technical and commercial assessments, integrating scientific feasibility, market attractiveness, value chain dynamics, and competitive landscape.
- Build early business cases that link technical potential with commercial pathways.
- Business Commercialization for Planetary Health Projects
- Act as a commercial lead within E2E projects, supporting the progression from concept → feasibility → pilot → market adoption.
- Define go-to-market strategies, value propositions, customer segmentation, and adoption pathways for new biosolutions.
- Co-drive customer validation activities, and technical–commercial proof-of-concept work streams.
- Support regulatory, sustainability, and application assessments where relevant.
- External Engagement & Partnership Development
- Build external networks with customers, startups, universities, research institutes, and ecosystem partners in China.
- Identify co-development or partnership opportunities to accelerate technical validation or market access.
- Represent Novonesis in technical-commercial discussions, workshops, and innovation exchanges.
- Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration
- Work closely with R&D (China), Global Venture and Innovation teams (Denmark), Application Centers, and Business Areas to align scientific and commercial priorities.
- Act as the bridge between science and market, ensuring early-stage work is grounded in strategic relevance and commercial realism.
- Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Biochemistry, or a related scientific/engineering field.
- Strong understanding of biosolutions, microbial processes, fermentation, biochemicals, or bio-based materials.
- 3–6+ years in business development, innovation, technical sales, venture building, R&D commercialization, or consulting within biotech, bioprocessing, materials, or sustainability sectors.
- Experience bridging technical insights with commercial strategy.
- Proven ability to work in early-stage innovation, navigate ambiguity, and deliver structured recommendations.
- Experience in engaging with diverse stakeholders, from R&D scientists to commercial leaders and external industry partners.
- Entrepreneurial, proactive, and comfortable working across multiple parallel projects.
- Strong communication skills in English and Mandarin.
- Willingness to travel as needed to support business development initiatives.
