Astrolight is on a mission to connect space and Earth using laser communication. We build systems that make it possible to send data quickly and securely between satellites, ships, and ground stations, especially in places where traditional radio communication does not work. Our technology supports both commercial and defense missions and is designed to perform reliably in real-world conditions. We are a fast-growing, fast-moving team focussed to bring fiber-like connectivity to space and beyond.
We are looking for a hands-on Business Development Lead to drive growth through complex, high-value deals across space and defense. You will own the full sales cycle and work directly on strategic opportunities, including collaborations with agencies like ESA and major industry players.
What you’ll do:
Own and execute the full sales cycle - from first contact to signed contract
- Identify and close high-value opportunities across commercial and government sectors globally
- Lead businesses development efforts with European Space Agency and other institutional tenders
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of strategic customers and partners
- Drive proposals and negotiations, and proactively move communication forward
- Work closely with engineering to shape solutions for mission-critical use cases
- Represent Astrolight at top-tier industry events, meetings, and negotiations
- Develop long-term partnerships with satellite operators, integrators, and other space and defense stakeholders
- Contribute directly to go-to-market strategy and positioning
- Hire, build and scale the business development team over time
What we’re looking for:
- 2–5+ years in business development, sales, or partnerships in technical industries (e.g. hardware, engineering, aerospace, defense, telecom, or other complex B2B/B2G products)
- Deep curiosity and empathy to truly understand customer problems, constraints, and mission needs at a fundamental level
- Proven track record of closing complex, high-value deals
- Strong commercial instinct with ability to understand technical products and customer problems
- Comfortable navigating long sales cycles and institutional procurement
- Highly proactive, ownership-driven, and execution-focused
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to travel at least 6 times a year to global industry events(EU, Asia, US)
- Fluent in English
Nice to have:
- Experience working with space or defense industry
- Network in the space or defense ecosystem
- Experience selling hardware + services or infrastructure solutions

From €4,000 gross, depending on experience and track record
