Job Description

You would be joining the Media Infra org as a tech lead for the Media SDK team. Media Infra is the platform responsible for handling all media uploads and playback on LinkedIn. Media SDK team builds client SDKs and libraries to enable upload and playback of all media types like Video, Images, Documents, Live and VC. The team sits at the intersection of infra and product, so your work directly impacts member experience.
Responsibilities:
• You will design and build multiple media libraries covering image, video etc, which are adopted across LinkedIn ecosystem family apps.
• You will follow industry developments and evaluate technologies from Apple, the open source world, and other LinkedIn teams to determine whether we should incorporate them to improve iOS developer productivity.
• You will work with LinkedIn's iOS developer community to understand their needs and propose solutions to accelerate product iteration speed.
• You will demonstrate craftsmanship and produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed and checked in regularly for continuous integration.
• You will provide technical leadership and use engineering best practices to initiate, plan, and execute large-scale, cross-functional, and company-wide projects.
• You will run projects spanning dozens of teams to increase adoption of the latest technologies.
• You will design ways to structure our application and build system to minimize build time in our multi-million line codebase.
• You will constantly look for opportunities to improve trunk health, improve test infrastructure, and optimize build speed.
• You will work closely with and influence product and/or technology partners regularly to help define roadmap
• You will deliver impact by driving innovation while building and shipping software at scale
• You will provide architectural guidance and mentorship to up-level the engineering organization
• You will resolve conflicts between teams within the organization to get alignment and build team culture
Basic Qualifications:
• BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.
• 5+ years programming experience in programming languages such as Objective-C, Swift, Java, C/C++, Python, etc.
• 2+ years of experience in an architect or technical leadership position
Preferred Qualifications:
• 10+ years of relevant work experience, including 4+ years of native mobile (iOS or Android) development
• Experience in designing and building infrastructure and web services at large scale.
• Expansive technical knowledge and experience with mobile application development (Android, iOS, Windows, or other).
• Deep knowledge of video playback frameworks such as AVFoundation, Core Media, and VideoToolbox.
• Experience with image rendering and processing using Core Graphics, Core Animation, and Core Image.
• Comprehensive knowledge of various media formats (e.g., MP4, MOV, HEVC), codecs, and streaming protocols such as HLS (HTTP Live Streaming)
• Familiarity with hardware-accelerated video decoding and encoding.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures
• Experience leading by influence, formulating and driving technical strategies across various organizations
• Experience leading a large organization
