What you’ll do
As the Maintenance Lead at our CO₂-to-acetic acid fermentation plant, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of all plant equipment – mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation. You’ll take ownership of preventive and corrective maintenance programs, support commissioning and startup, and help shape maintenance systems from the ground up. This is a hands-on role suited for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys troubleshooting, and takes pride in keeping complex process systems running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform preventive and corrective maintenance across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Install, inspect, calibrate, and repair process equipment including pumps, compressors, valves, piping, exchangers, motors, MCCs, VFDs, and field instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level).
- Support commissioning and startup activities — including loop checks, functional testing, and punch list resolution.
- Develop and refine maintenance procedures, schedules, and documentation for both mechanical and I&E systems.
- Coordinate external vendors for specialty maintenance, calibration, or emergency repairs.
- Work closely with process, controls, and operations teams to support safe, reliable, and optimized plant performance.
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis efforts to resolve equipment or control issues.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, calibrations, and mechanical integrity documentation.
About you:
- Hands-on experience maintaining process or industrial plant equipment — ideally with exposure to both mechanical and I&E systems.
- Comfortable with installation, troubleshooting, and repair of rotating and static equipment.
- Familiarity with calibration and maintenance of field instrumentation and PLC-based control systems.
- Able to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, isometric and mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Working knowledge of safe work practices in chemical or industrial environments
- Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail, and a get-shit-done approach to maintenance.
What we promise you?
- Health/dental/vision insurance, 401k match, company equity, performance bonus, PTO + sick leave, parental leave, disability benefits, life insurance, stocked kitchen
- You get to work with a group of passionate scientists and engineers, working on challenging and meaningful projects
- This will be the journey of a lifetime – we are serious about our mission to reduce over 1 gigaton of CO₂ and you can play a pivotal role in making that happen
- We live by our company values: Relentless Grit, Unreasonably Ambitious, Unconventional Thinking, Critical Urgency
- An inclusive, empowering and engaging work environment
